Good Morning All, Intro's first, my name is Wayne and I Don't suffer from RA, but unfortunately my wife, Andree whose account this is, does, since she was properly diagnosed by a Rheumatologist she has been through the mill with different medications and is now on Enderel which she self injects weekly, and (touch wood) seems to suit her, I have a few different questions which I hope that the members of the NRAS Forum may be able to answer, as sometimes sufferers know more of the conditions than the professionals, but, those questions will be asked in future postings, I also joined her up to the NRAS (again without her knowledge!), which was a great surprise/shock to her when literature started arriving!, you now have the gist of us and why I am posting on her account!. Wayne (Andree's husband).

Hi Andree and Wayne

Welcome to the forum that you would never want to join but having done so will find an invaluable source of information support and friendship. Whatever questions either of you may have, someone here will come up with an answer or refer to to someone who will.

I am 57 and have been diagnosed for 5 years currently on Enbrel and Methotrexate which is working well for me. Pleased to hear it seems to be working for you too.

Look forward to hearing more from you both.

Welcome to the forum Andree (and Wayne)

First of all may I say what a wonderful Husband you have. Not only is he concerned about your RA, he wants you to be able to turn to people who "have the t shirt" - you are already well ahead of the game by having someone close to you who understands what you are going through.

This forum has been a god send to me. From being a newly diagnosed, frightened and clueless individual, I have spent the last two years being supported, comforted and informed by a great bunch of people. No question has been too small or stupid. Someone always knows the answer or will point you in the right direction.

When you have got over the shock we look forward to hearing more from you.

Jackie

Hi Andree and Wayne
I'll add my welcome too. This is a great place to get lots of questions answered and loads of support, especially for those really down days. As you are on anti-tnf's it sounds like you've been down a long road already - so we look forward to all your questions - both of you! I've put up loads of questions over the time and it is lovely having so many people ready to contribute with the ideas and experiences.
Anyway - forgot to say I'm Anne, just 50!! - I also have a daughter aged 22 with RA. I am also on Anti-tnfs - Humira - which I inject once a fortnight. This has been the first drug that has actually worked on me. I still have a stubborn knee and shoulder, but the rest of my joints are doing remarkably well.
I think that is lovely of you Wayne to join your wife - that is so kind and considerate. The first steps of making contact with others can be so hard.
Looking forward to hearing more from both of you.

Hi Andree (and Wayne)

Welcome to the forum. A great place to be for support and information; lots of folk, lots of knowledge and a wealth of tried and tested experiences! Glad you have found us and NRAS!

I'm Lyn, married to Mike, we have four 'kidults' Abby 23, Ian and Jake 18, and Louis 17. We live in Thornton Cleveleys in north west Lancashire. I was diagnosed with RA over 23 years ago and have since run the gauntlet of medication, had several surgical procedures along the way and looks like more in the offing! Currently on Prednisolone, Methotrexate and just started Rituximab by infusion. I was previously on anti-tnf for 8 years but had to stop due to lack of efficacy. Add to that a bucket load of pain killers and other bits and pieces! But heyho...

Look forward to getting to know you Andree,

Lyn x

Welcome Andree and Wayne
Wayne, what a thoughtful and proactive person you are. Remember there is support for partners too on this forum.
Andree, I can imagine your surprise as you are reading these replies. I hope the forum can be of benefit to you. There are so many years of experience to draw on and I have found it so helpful myself. Whether you want information, support or just a chat there is always someone on here to talk to you. Hopefully we can draw on your valuable experience too (once the shock of what your Wayne has done behind your back wears off!). My name is Naomi and I was diagnosed in August of this year. Hope to 'meet' you again soon. Best wishes X

Hi Wayne & Andrea,
sneaky but in a good way. I think you will both get a lot from joining this forum. I have got so much more from using this than all my trips back and too to hospital doctors etc.. in the 3 years I have been diagnosed, it is a good place to ask questions and just reading thru posts helps to understand that you are not alone.
welcome to you both,
sue v xx

Hello Andree and Wayne

First I want to say how lucky your wife is to have you and I do hope that you will show her this thread, so she can see how much you care about her.

I was diagnosed May 08 and joined the forum in the August. I have found so much support on here and advice and learned so much about RA from people who know just how it is to have this illness. So, if you have any questions just ask and someone will have the answer.

I am what I would call a 'private person', don't really like people knowing too much about my business, but on here I feel safe to talk about my fears and how I feel. Everyone understands what I mean. Just wondering if your wife might be the same.

Looking forward to reading some more posts from you and hopefully your wife's.

Paula

Hi Andree and Wayne,

So nice to hear from you and your wife. Welcome to our forum, we have all been there are wear the tee shirt. Smile There is always someone on here to answer you questions.

I am Lorna married to Ken and we have 3 grown up daughters. I have had RA for 4 years now, when it struck me I was very ill and could do precious little. It was a nightmare just 2 weeks before Christmas. I was diagnosed within 5 weeks and started on the Triple Therapy, fortunately it worked for me and I keep very well now. There is always hope, keep positive, things do get a bit easier.

Do keep posting and don't hesitate to ask whatever may be bothering you.

Welcome again.

Take care Lorna x Smile

Hi Andree and Wayne, and a very warm welcome to the forum. It`s a fact that there are many members on here can provide info, empathy and very good advice, or even just a shoulder to cry on.
